Educational Topic of the Month: Devonian Stone vs. Limestone
Dr. William Kelly, Associate Director of the New York State Geological Survey has stated, "The strength, durability and weathering characteristics of any rock depend on its constituent minerals. Sandstones may not be subject to the same kind of deterioration as limestone. A quartz-rich, quartz-cemented sandstone found in the Catskills of New York, such as Glacier Blue® Devonian Sandstone, is very durable. It is more difficult to scratch, has a higher compressive strength, and is much more resistant to erosion." To read Dr. Kelly's full report, please click here.

Not Just Blue, it's Glacier BlueTM : the Difference is in the Excellence
|Although Glacier Blue® Devonian Sandstone has a beautiful pale blue hue, it is vastly different than what most refer to as bluestone, or common flagstone.
Devonian sandstone offers an incredibly beautiful Glacier Blue® color, unlike the gray, brown and green variations that exist in natural cleft stone, or common bluestone. Furthermore, unlike natural cleft stone which offers a size tolerance of +/- 1/4" at best, Devonian sandstone retains a high level of structural integrity providing cut tolerances of +/- 1/16" to the finished product, allowing it to meet the most demanding architectural specifications.
Architects and building industry professionals across the country are taking notice, and those who have chosen to work with Glacier Blue® Devonian Sandstone say the differences are clear.
Glacier Blue® Devonian Sandstone has been chosen for projects from New York to California, including the courtyard of The Dakota apartment building in New York City, numerous estates in Bel Air and Beverly Hills, California, The Smithsonian Institute, Yale University, and many other residential, commercial, and institutional projects across the country.
Facility Expansion Includes New Saws
